Why Choose Honda Generators?
Although many people know Honda for its vehicles, its history with other useful products spans decades. In fact, Honda has produced over 100 million power tools and other devices since 1953, according to the company’s records. If you’re looking for a generator that is meant to be efficient in both operation and fuel consumption, is reliable, and is friendly for the environment, a Honda generator might be one of the best choices out there.
History
Honda’s history as an automobile manufacturer stretches back decades, but the company’s early years include key points or successes that might not be common knowledge. Read on to discover some of the ways Honda has left its stamp on the automotive industry and branched out into power equipment.
Founding and Milestones
Founder Soichiro Honda developed a keen interest in automobiles early in his life. This led him to seek out jobs in the industry, and some of his early work was spent repairing or tuning up cars at mechanic shops in the area. Additionally, he would enter some cars in local races. Thanks to a generous loan from one of his acquaintances, Honda was able to start his first business, the Eastern Sea Precision Machine Company. It’s a business that started small, manufacturing piston rings out of a garage. This fledgling company had some brief experiences with Toyota before Honda attended engineering school to gain a better understanding of manufacturing processes.
After gaining some experience at school and through factory visits, Honda improved on his piston ring design and procured a contract with Toyota. Honda, as a company, later produced parts for military aircraft during World War II. Honda was named a senior managing director under Toyota’s leadership during this time, and the relationships he would cultivate in this period would be instrumental to his company’s future successes. After one of the main factories for Honda’s company was destroyed, its founder was able to sell off the salvage and use the proceeds to create what would be known as the Honda Technical Research Institute.
Using only a small staff, Honda constructed various motorized bikes using surplus engines and parts as an early foray into what would become the automotive company. This early work was instrumental in Honda later developing their own version of a motor to supply to customers who purchased their bikes. 1949 saw the rise of the D-Type, the first complete frame for a motorcycle produced by Honda and also using one of the company’s engines. By 1964, after achieving both World Championship and Grand Prix victories, Honda had already become the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles at that time.
A year prior to this milestone, Honda had released its first automobile, a miniature pickup model, the T360. That same year, Honda unveiled its first car as well. The S500 was a sports car that used chain-driven wheels at the back, a nod to the motorcycle origins of the company. The following decades would see the corporation expand its product lines as well as avenues of business, and Honda would become an international manufacturer and retailer desired the world over.
Notably, Honda broke into the American market with its release of the Acura line of vehicles. Although the 1990s saw an unexpected boom for sport utility vehicles that took the company a bit off guard, it persevered through some tough times to come out the other side. Honda swung into recreational vehicle production after a massive and relatively quick shift in the corporate culture. Honda began an aircraft branch in 2006 and an alliance with General Motors in 2020.
Production and Manufacturing
Products
Automobiles are one of the most famous and widespread of the major products that the company designs. Although the company is headquartered in Tokyo, it maintains international plants around the world. One of the primary locations for the North American market is in Marysville, Ohio.
In addition to complete vehicles, Honda crafts and distributes a number of parts that can be installed in their branded cars or trucks. With the company’s expansion into other markets, you can also find Honda products in categories such as mountain bikes, all-terrain vehicles, lawn equipment, power tools, watercraft, and even solar cells. The corporation has also made some initial forays into robotics, with possible future implementations on the way. As an international conglomerate, Honda maintains facilities in many countries.
Manufacturing
Honda always keeps its roots in mind when it comes to manufacturing, and this includes both its automobiles and the many other things it designs. Honda’s engineers strive to get the most efficient performance possible out of the engines and other mechanics that go into each of the products they design. This singular drive has become known as “Hondamentalism” over the decades.
Key Facts
Because Honda takes great pride in refining the inner workings of its mechanical products, the corporation takes some key things into consideration when it comes to the manufacturing process. In addition to tweaking engine designs, engineers have worked on flexible fuel alternatives that run on blends of different gases. Honda products or parts are intended to be as efficient as possible, and the company continues to research alternative technologies that can further benefit its customer base.
